<p>Donnie Darko is a film written and directed by Richard Kelly. It was released in the US in October 2001, and although it was released in only 58 cinemas nationwide it still managed to get an ongoing fan base especially on the internet. The film was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival where critic Andy Bailey wrote that Donnie Darko is a “Sundance surprise that isn’t that isn’t spoiled by the Hollywood forces that helped birth it”.</p>


<h3>Cast and crew</h3>


<p>The cast of Donnie Darko where fairly well known before the film came out and are even more well known after it came out. The cast consists of : Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie Darko, Holmes Osborne as Eddie Darko, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Elizabeth Darko, Mary McDonnell as Rose Darko and Drew Barrymore as Karen Promeroy.</p>

<h3>Plot</h3>

<p>Donnie Darko is set in the 1988 presidential elections and is about a boy in he’s late teens that suffers from schizophrenia. After not taking he’s medicine given to him by he’s doctor he starts to see Frank who is a boy he’s age dressed as a 6ft tall demonic bunny. Frank tells him that the world is going to end in 28 days 6 hours 42minutes and 12 seconds. After hearing that news Donnie starts listening to Frank who tells him to do stuff like burn down a mans house (who turns out to be a paedophile) and flood he’s school.
