Sir Ian Mckellen plays a psychiatric patient by the name of Gabriel who believes that he is the king of a fantasy land.

Things get interesting when Zach Riley, played by Aaron Eckhart, gets a job as a psychiatrist in the institution. Zach's dad wrote the story that Gabriel thinks he is the king of. Gabriel thinks that the psychiatrists are evil people who have captured him and locked him away so they can take over his Kingdom. While Zach is coming to terms with his father's past of also being a psychiatric patient in the same institution that he is working in now, Gabriel is trying to convince him to help him escape.

This is an emotional film that engages you thoroughly. Although it is a little hard to understand at times, you'll love this movie if you like engaging films that make you think a little.
