Lame in Translation

Yeah, I eventually gave in to all of the hype and buzz about "Lost In Translation" a few years ago and watched it when when it aired on cable. Snore. There was some cool scenery, but other than that...lame. And just a bit creepy - Bill Murray semi-hitting on Scarlett Johansson? The only bit of intrigue - the only possible hint of something interesting or cool or worth pondering in the whole movie - is what Bill Murray's character whispered to Johansson's character in the final scene. And now, that too has been revealed to be super-lame, thereby rendering the entire movie ultra-lame. According to some audio experts, this is what the final whispered exchange is.

MURRAY: ""I have to be leaving, but I won't let that come between us, OK?"

JOHANSSON: "Okay."

And let's be honest: the only reason that this movie did as well as it did, and generated such buzz, is because Scarlett Johannson is a "hottie." Nothing wrong with her being pretty at all...but how many men would have even bothered to watch the movie at all, let alone profess to their wives or girlfriends that it was a great movie, if the female lead had been played by, say, Anna Paquin or Heather Matarazzo? These young ladies are not unattractive, but they aren't "hotties" in the same sense that Johannson is.
