The movie lacked an air of true thrilling events. Throughout this film a series of sequential supposedly believable incidents occur. However, they quickly become boring and monotonous. These occurrences are made so unbelievable to the point of underline stupidity. Unlike the original version, the realism factor was virtually non-existent. The famous French fry scene wasn't even incorporated for enhanced dramatics. Lastly, the alternate ending was much more suitable than the chosen production one. This fact just capped off the many director and screenplay errors.

It starts out in a reversal role concerning the weak minded victim. In the original, the hero was the male. It seems irritatingly classic but nevertheless very effective. This film portrays the female as the cunning strong minded individual. I suppose the writers and producers wanted to reflect a modern feel. However, this completely sucked out any hopes of a realistic storyline.

Basically, the bottom line is don't waste your time or money on this 2007 version of “The Hitcher”. It was poorly scripted and thought out to say the least. So if you want to see a quality production, rent the original starring Rutger Hauer.
