The Most Hilarious Quotes From Channel 4’s Favourite News Anchor

Arguably the number 1 movie for these fantastically rib tickling quotes comes from the 2004 film, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy where Ferrell plays a self obsessed San Diego news anchor opposite Christina Applegate. Applegate playing rival woman news reader Veronica Corningstone is determined to break the sexist, chauvinistic world of male news reading and becomes Ron Burgundy's co-anchor sparking fierce opposition from the rest of the team. Thus the most humourous movie quotes from Channel 4's favourite news anchor are born.

“Mmm….I look good, I mean really good. Hey everyone come and see how good I look!”

While admiring himself before going live to San Diego.

“Lanolin? Lanolin? Like sheep's wool?”

While trying to pick up one of the floor managers in the studio and misinterpreting her name.

“Unique New York. Unique New York.”

A warm up line while preparing to read the news.

“I love scotch. I love scotch. Scotchy, scotchy, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly.”

Drinking his favourite drink right before going live.

“The arsonist has oddly shaped feet.”

Again, a warm up line in preparation for reading the news.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I've just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story and I need all of you to stop what you're doing and listen……Cannonball!”

Showing off to party goers at a typical 70's pool party.

“You have an absolutely breathtaking…hiney. I wanna be friends with it.”

A line he uses to try and seduce Veronica Corningstone.

“I wanna be on you.”

Right after humiliating himself in front of Veronica and trying to make up for it.

“Well I could be wrong but I believe "diversity" was an old, old, wooden ship used during the civil war error.”

Explaining the meaning of the word diversity to his fellow news staff after his boss uses it.

“Oh it's a deep burn! Oh it's so deep. Oh I can barely lift my right arm cos I did so many. I don't know if you heard me counting. I did over a thousand.”

Showing Veronica how great his physique while lifting dumbbells.

“Veronica Corningstone and I had sex and now we're in love. Did I say that out loud?”

After agreeing to not share their new found love with anyone else.

“I'm gonna punch you in the ovaries.”

Right before a fight with Veronica.

“You are a smelly pirate hooker.”

“Why don't you go back to your home on wh*re island?”

“You have a dirty wh*reish mouth.”

“Knights of Columbus that hurt.”

The finale to the "bitch" fight between himself and Veronica after she reads the news and not him, and hits him with a television aerial.

“Brick I been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safe haven or a relative close by, lay low for a while because you're probably wanted for murder.”

After a fight with the rival news teams where Brick, Ron's inept weatherman, killed a guy on a horse using a trident.

“Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Deaago, which of course in German means…a whale's vagina.”

Explaining to Veronica how the city of San Diego was founded.

“I'm Ron Burgundy; go f*ck yourselves San Diego.”

Reading exactly what's on the teleprompter no matter what, after Veronica changes the words on him.

“Great Odens Raven”

After learning what he has said on live television.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is full of laughs if you love quirky and bizarre plots accompanied by even more bizarre but legendary one liners. For maximum enjoyment and understanding, the second viewing is almost certainly better.

10 Comedies That Changed my Life

Spaceballs (24 June 1987)

Mel Brooks, a pure parody genius. I was four when this was released however, I probably watched it for the first time when I was ten. I believe this is the best parody movie ever made. I makes it that much more special with all these parody movies coming out today, I.E. SCARY MOVIE, EPIC MOVIE, and they are all rubbish..

Let the farce be with you..

Princess Bride (25 September 1987)

Rob Reiner and William Goldman teaming up to make a true classic. I watched this again last week and it is just brilliant. I love how loose and free the 80's were. I mean how can you go wrong with andre the giant!

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (11 June 1986)

I think this movie shaped Everyone's life.. John Hughes shows us truly how to play hooky. It also goes to show what you can accomplish if you use your smarts. I also like the idea that it shows that lack of responsibility you can have as a teen. Life isn't so structured.

Old School (21 February 2003)

Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell are comic geniuses in this post animal house world. Great idea, great characters.. Great movie.

Knocked Up (1 June 2007)

Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen team up to create one of the best comedies in ever. They create a movie that isn't plot driven, but character driven. With characters that are actually believable, and that is what makes it funny.. hard to do.. and props to them.

Half Baked (16 January 1998)

I don't know how many times I have blazed and watch this movie.. and It still never gets old.. probably cause I can never remember it...

funions… yeah.. funions...

Super Troopers :
(15 February 2002)

Somehow the broken lizard guys made cops likeable. The dialogue in this movie is brilliant. The viewer can tell that these guys are friends in real life.. and don't forget about Farva. I got you good you f**cker. The intro scene is by far the best intro ever.

Something About Mary (15 July 1998)

Farrelly Brothers, I remember seeing this opening night and the theater was going crazy.. Just too funny.

Wedding Singer Date:
(13 February 1998)

I am sorry that this is so high on the list, but fuck it.. I have seen it more than any other movie. I own it, and I still watch it with commercials every time it is on tv.

Dumb and Dumber (16 December 1994)

Still the greatest of all time.. Once again the Theater experience for this movie was insane.. People were literally rolling in the aisles.. I have never seen it again.. Plus Jim Carey Jeff Daniels and the untainted Farrelly Brothers.. Got to love it..

So your saying there's a chance.

The Breakup

Story

This movie is about a couple who get together after they meet at a baseball game. They eventually move in together after an unknown amount of time. Their differences result in their inevitable break up. They fight over who should leave the apartment. Since neither wants to leave, they both decide to stay in the apartment. Brooke wants to prove that Gary can't live without her. She ends up going on dates with different men to make him jealous. It doesn't seem to work. He ends up outsmarting her. This movie is practically a remake of The War of The Roses except Brooke and Gary aren't married.

My thoughts about the movie

I liked the movie. I thought the plot was interesting. It reminded me of an updated version of The War of The Roses. I was curious to see what kind of things they would have done to each other to get the other out of the apartment. I thought the acting was pretty good. I was surprised at how professional Vince and Jennifer were considering they were rumored to be dating while filming the movie. More times than not, when real life couples play a couple in a movie, you can tell that they are dating (i.e. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith). The supporting cast don't really get much to do in the movie. It was as if they were only casted so Brooke and Gary would have people to talk to about their problems. They have numerous relatives and friends that come and go in the movie. The movie doesn't have a long feel. It goes by pretty fast. I didn't really care for the ending of the movie though. Spoiler: It doesn't end predictably, but it does leave you hanging.

Even though I liked the movie, I still walked away with some questions:

What was wrong with the first guy Brooke was dating?

When Brooke and Gary met, they were at a baseball game. She was on a date with another guy. She didn't seem to have a problem with him so why did she drop him for Gary ?

Was their relationship doomed from the start?

He seemed like a crazy person when they met. He practically forced himself on her when she clearly didn't want to be with to be bothered with him. Maybe it was karma that they didn't last.

Why did the majority of Brooke and Gary's relationship take place in the opening credits?

Their relationship seemed happier in the opening credits than it did throughout the movie. It would have been easier to see what their problems were if they showed more of their relationship.

Did they move in together too soon?

They obviously had different ideas on how they wanted the place to look. He wanted a poll table and she wanted furniture. Also, it was never explained how long they were together.

Why didn't Brooke tell Gary what she wanted from him sooner?

They had a fight because she felt that he didn't appreciate her. Instead of telling him what she wanted, she expected him to read her mind. She told her friend what she wanted from him, but she wouldn't tell him. This fight is what lead to their breakup. They said hurtful things to each other and they ended up breaking up.

Whose side were we supposed to take?

The writers made it hard to side with Brooke at times because she is very spiteful and cruel to him. She was also the one who wanted to break up, but she expected him to go crawling back to her. When he was willing to end their argument, she had to keep it going. He was also hard to root for at times too. He bought a pool table without telling her about it. He also had a strip poker party at their apartment. Brooke invited him to go out with her to a concert, but he stands her up for no reason. His friend finally tells him how he never does anything that anyone else wants. He only does what he wants. That finally made him see the error of his ways.

Didn't the title spoil the movie?

You know what's going to happen because the title spoils the movie. The movie could have been called The Apartment and it wouldn't have spoiled the movie.
