the list is decent as an introduction to black films, but i agree that there are some pretty... "ungood" films on there. Eve's Bayou is one of the best films i've seen period--let alone one of the best black films. i also wasn't especially impressed by City of God. perhaps i should give it another go-round.

I don't fail. I succeed. I purposely didn't mention "Killer of Sheep" because I didn't think the film was good. I actually thought it was amateurish, tedious to watch and forgettable. The most overrated black film ever.

To Camichael in Hollywood: you call yourself a film professional and connoisseur & yet fail to list Killer Of Sheep?

This list is the worst. When you have weak films like \"Dreamgirls\" and \"Waiting to Exhale\" making the list over vastly superior films like \"Eve\'s Bayou\" and \"The Color Purple, then the list goes into the irrelevant bin. I include \"The Color Purple\" because, apparently, this list doesn\'t discriminate against films made by people outside the black community, like \"The Color Purple\". At least I would hope so.

Having said that, as a film professional and connoisseur, I have seen almost everything, which includes foreign language films, animation, documentaries, etc. For a top 10 list, I would get rid of \"Dreamgirls,\" \"Waiting to Exhale,\" \"Soul Food,\" and \"Sparkle\" for \"Eve\'s Bayou\" (1997), \"Antwone Fisher\" (2002), \"The Color Purple\" (1985), and \"Nothing But A Man\" (1964). I would also have to find room for \"Hoop Dreams\" (1994). yes, it was a documentary but it was probably one of the best documentaries ever made. This is all just my opinion.

And what about \"Ray\" (2004)? Also, this list doesn\'t include some of the great foreign language cinema featuring a predominantly black cast and if it did, it would have to include a masterpiece like \"City of God\" (2002).

A list this complex deserves extensive research and impartiality. It seems like the opinion of a single individual who haven\'t seen many films.
