Hairspray (2007 Film)

A film review of an excellent movie.

Main Cast:

  • Nikki Blonsky as Tracy Turnblad
  • John Travolta as Edna Turnblad
  • Christopher Walker as Wilbur Turnblad
  • Zac Efron as Link Larkin
  • Amanda Bynes as Penny Pingleton
  • Year: 2007
  • Runtime: 117 min

Hairspray is based back in the 1960's during the segregation of the African American people and tells of one girls plan to bring about a solution. Tracey Turnblad is a young plus sized girl who enjoys watching the Corny Collins show and her favorite part of the show is Negro Day which screens once a month.

After befriending Seaweed an African American boy, who stars on Negro Day, Tracey hears that Negro Day has been canceled. She goes to see Motormouth Maybelle (Queen Latifah) and suggest a march for integration.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to viewers of all ages.
