Based on The Newbery Medal (1978) winning book, “Bridge to Terabithia” is a movie that everyone is sure to love. Starring young actors Josh Hutcherson (Little Manhattan, RV) and Annasophia Robb (Because of Winn-Dixie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), this movie is truly superb.
The movie begins with a kid named Jess Aarons (Hutcherson) who is determined to become the fastest kid in his school by winning the race that is going to be happening. But when the new kid, Lisa Burke (Robb), comes along and ends up winning the race, Jess' real journey begins. Before he knows it, he and Lisa are good friends and along with her, they use their imagination to create a magical kingdom called Terabithia. Little does Jess know that the things that Lisa taught him will soon be put to the test as a he has to cope with a great tragedy. Will he make it through the hardships?
Alongside Hutcherson and Robb is Zooey Deschanel (Elf) and Robert Patrick (We Are Marshall, Flags of Our Fathers). The acting in this movie is truly superb and I think that this is one of the few movies that Josh Hutcherson has done that has actually been good. I recommend this movie strongly for any person that likes to use their imagination. Bring lots of tissues for this movie too. You're going to need them.
My rating: 4 ½ stars (out of 5)
