Hercules the Disney movie and the Legend are very different from each other. The Disney producers had to make the movie so it was appropriate for children the age of five and six. The legend couldn't be shown because of the adult content. So the producers formatted it differently. There is a lot of differences between them and I will explain them.
One of the major differences is that Hades, in the movie, tries to take over Mount Olympus using the Titans. This was made that way to make the movie have more dramatic effect. It entertains the people better. Another difference is that Hercules, in the movie, was born a god but then turned into a mortal by Hades' potion. I think they added that in because it also added dramatic effect and added more options to what they could do next.
A huge thing the Disney producers didn't add is that Hercules died at the end. All Disney movies end in a happy ending and obviously had to end it that way because everyone would be disappointed. The last difference I found is that Hercules saved Meg at the end. He had killed all of their children in the legend but none of them were in the movie. I thought it was disappointing.
In conclusion, I found four major things that were different between the two stories. I liked both versions but I would rather see the legend because it would have been more exciting to see Hercules die and him kill Meg's kids. But for five and six year olds, I thought the movie was very entertaining. The Disney producers did a nice job on the movie.
