Schindler's prime motivation is to make money. He hires Jews for free and uses them in his factory to create goods. His motivation soon changes after witnessing Jews going through many murders and hard labor. He notices a rare change of heart against the Jews where he actually appreciates them and enjoys their company. He later spends his entire fortune toward the good of the Jews just so he can hide them at his factory.
Oskar Schindler was a very selfish self-centered man. All he cared about was his own needs and business. He literally had no heart. Schindler was in the Nazi party and befriended many other German Nazis. He was a married man whose wife he always cheated on. He had a different women in his bed almost every night. The only thing that kept him going was endless pleasure.
Schindler began to see terrible things during the liquidation of the ghettos. He was seeing innocent people getting shot for no good reason. What was supposed to be a plan to take the Jews into concentration camps turned into a bloody massacre where only the fittest survived. Schindler then noticed a little girl in a red coat that is not being noticed by the soldiers. He knows that something will happen to her. He realizes that something must be done.
Schindler kisses and thanks a Jewish women and her daughter at his birthday party for baking him a cake. He gets sent to jail and when he is bailed by Getts, he noticed that ashes were falling from the sky. He finds out that the Germans were burning the dead Jewish bodies. He sees the body of the girl in the red jacket and knows that he must act. He ended up buying Jews to hide them in his factory. He ends up lasting seven months with the Jews spending every last penny that he had on hiding them and producing nothing for the German army. He realizes that since the war was over, the Germans would try and arrest or kill Schindler for housing Jews. He had to flee.

He was a man who only cared about himself and having a great time. Soon he realizes that what the Germans are doing to the Jews is wrong and he tries to make a difference. He spends his large fortune to save over 1000 lives. He came from being a jerk of a man and husband to being a good, caring, hopeful man.
