The temperature is rising and global warming has become a serious issue for Manny, Sid and Diego, as well as all the other herds of the valley. All the animals must journey to the end of the valley where a boat can be boarded to prevent drowning when the valley floods from the meltdown.
Manny, plagued by the thought that he is the last of his kind, begins the journey with his herd mates and soon encounters a unique mammoth named Ellie. Ellis, of course, does not believe herself to be a mammoth and contends that Manny is indeed the last of his kind. Ellie and her “brothers” join the herd for their journey to the end of the valley.
Meanwhile, the melting ice releases vicious creatures that had been caged in blocks of ice on the unsuspecting travelers. Ellie and Manny must deal with personality conflicts and relationship issues. Sid becomes the worshiped fire king, and Diego faces his one and only fear. The journey to the end of the valley is filled with obstacles and dangers of many types. Along the way, the herd encounters exploding geysers avalanches and other difficulties.
In the end, Ellie discovers that she's a woolly mammoth and both mammoths discover that they are not the only ones in the world. The valley floods, only to be saved by the antics of the hilarious Scrat, always in search the acorn that he never seems to get to eat. In the end, Manny and Ellie must face the choice of staying together or going their separate ways. Viewers will wonder what dangers will come next as they sit on the edge of their seat waiting with rapt attention. With so much excitement and adventure, even the adults will enjoy watching this movie, which is good because this movie will be watched - over and over and over and over....
Parent's Note: This movie contains some minor cartoon violence and romantic innuendos. There is also some sexual undertones targeted at the adult audience. Young children, however, would not likely catch the underlying meanings.
