Role Model: Emmett "Doc" Brown of the Back to the Future Trilogy

Here is a man who sets out to follow his dream. He knows if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

Emmett Lathrop "Doc" Brown, Ph.D of the Back to the Future trilogy is a role model. Here is a man who loves to invent things. Emmett is known best for inventing time travel.

Brown could not have invented time travel without first coming up with the flux capacitor which makes time travel possible. In the year 1985 he makes a De Lorean sports car into his time machine. He uses plutonium to power it which he steals from Libyan terrorists. He is so proud of his invention, he invites Marty Mcfly to see his creation and tells him to bring the video camera.

Brown uses the time machine to learn more about humanity. His purpose is not for any type of financial gain. After he learns of the problems with the De Lorean after Marty goes back to 1955, when Brown goes forward into the year 2015 he gives himself and the car a major overhaul. He makes it so the car runs on trash, and the he has years taken off his life.

Unfortunately Biff Tannen catches sight of the De Lorean before he, Marty and Jennifer take off for the year 2015, then notices the car land in the year 2015, takes off with the car, and with the help of Grey's Almanac skews the present 1985 into an alternate timeline which Brown and Mcfly are forced to fix. The coincidence is they have to travel back to November 12, 1955.

In a freak mishap after the timeline was changed, 1985 Brown ends up in 1885, and Mcfly uses 1955 Brown to help him go back into the past to save Doc Brown from being killed by Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen. Brown is not so ready to leave when he meets Clara Clayton, and they fall in love. Their favorite writer is Jules Verne. In the end, Brown ends up staying but continues inventing. So he invents yet another time machine out of a steam locomotive. He and Clara end up having two children, Jules and Verne.

Brown love for inventing helps to make all things possible. Not all of his inventions work, but he keeps trying and failing, until he succeeds. He wants to be like all his role models, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, and Jules Verne. He wants to be like them, so he sets out and does what he sets out to do, and at the same time emulating his heroes. Brown knows if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
