Touching the Void

Review of the film.

Touching the Void was an amazing movie. There were three friends who went to climb a mountain that had never been successfully climbed before. One of them had never climbed before, so he stayed at the main base. The other two began to climb up the mountain. They planned to reach the top and come back down in a couple of days. This plan went all wrong, they came across many storms, so they had to spend many nights in snow caves, and then they run out of gas. They are determined and they get to the top of the mountain.

As they are coming back down the mountain, one of them breaks his leg, and the only chance they have is if they tie their ropes together and they begin to lower the one with the broken leg, and then when he gets to a safe spot, the other one comes down, and they continue again and again. This quickly goes wrong, when the one with the broken leg goes over the edge and the one at the top tugs the rope to say “take your weight away”, but he was hanging over a big crevice and had no hope of climbing up the broken, with frozen fingers and a broken leg. The guy at the top, after waiting for many hours, decided that he was dead, and he needed to cut the rope.

He cut the rope, and the other guy fell down, he had to slowly make his way to the bottom from the ledge he had landed on, and climb up a very difficult slope, he then began to slowly make progress down the mountain. The other guy was at the camp, and they had already burned his clothes to remember him.

After many days, the other guy laid down and there was a storm going on, he started shouting out as loud as he could. They both woke up, and began to search for him. They found him 150-200 yards higher up the path.
