Bare with me, I went to the Block at Orange in Southern California with about 30 people to see this. Most of the movie my boyfriend couldn't resist the urge to keep calling Kmart (The young, rather spunky blonde girl who has a knack for using shot guns) Veronica. A lot of the plot seemed to the leading to the ideas based upon Resident Evil Code: Veronica. However, there were a few loose ends thrown in. The Carlos and Alice bit kind of made me raise a brow, those of you who've seen this movie would probably agree. Actually a few people in my group were rather excited to see the actor for Wesker. However, was it just me, or did they call him Simon Wesker? O.o..
The Action was great, as I stated before, like most video game inspired movies, had a great deal of special effects, as well as gruesome looking graphics that could make those weak and sensitive to that sort of thing, squirm. However, I thought it was great.
The acting was was suburb but I think that the dear Dr. could have been a little more sadistic. The actor for Wesker was great, and our little Alice was wonderful as always, and makes for a great fighter as always (Thank you Fifth Element).
The direction almost made me want to cry, as most series movies it left me hanging at the end with an Army of Alice. Now I'm twitching in my seat waiting for the release for the next movie.
Visuals were spectacular, though my theater kind of sucked for sound, and we were in a bad spot so certain "jumpy" or "scary" sound effects were quite loud and only made my jump because of how loud it was. For the most part, It wasn't terribly scary, just entertaining. (Silent Hill however, was quite the thrill. But that's a completely different situation)
Overall, I would suggest anyone to see this movie at LEAST once in the theaters. Not one of those movies that should only be watched when it comes out on DVD. Don't get me wrong, you SHOULD get the DVD when it comes out
I liked your review of Resident Evil. It actually made me want to go see it in the theater! Thanks for your point of view, very refreshing. (By the way, I review films as "12 Angry She Males", I've sent several to Triond.) The zombie genre is perhaps my favorite. Please leave a comment if you read any of mine. I'd like to think I'm appreciated.
