When the first teaser for the film came out, before Ledger past, I was ecstatic. My friend and I love Batman, so even though I tried not to have excessive expectations for the movie, Heath Ledger's Joker laugh in the teaser just gave us more hope.
The movie runs at about two hours and thirty minutes, it does seem long but every minute was exciting for me. The opening scene is quite entertaining. Heath definitely did not disappoint, I could've watched him the whole movie. The ‘disappearing pencil trick' was damned comical despite its cruelty, if you don't know what I mean you'll know when you see it, and then you'll laugh. He brings out the best in the Joker, everything that is smart, comical, insane, and explosive about him. The movie really brings out what the Batman Joker relationship is all about and what defines their unique confrontations.
Aaron Eckhart's performance I felt absolutely matched Ledger's performance. He nailed the honest and righteous criminal hunter tagged ‘the white knight'. He gets even more amusing when he begins to take on the role of Two-Face.
If you are a Batman lover you will not be disappointed, even though they don't follow the story of the Joker falling into a pool of chemicals like the past movie, the white on his face is just explained as make-up. Even if you are not an avid batman follower you will undoubtedly be entertained by this crime adventure, but be prepared for the lengthiness of the movie just be patient. But with out a doubt, if I had a spare hand, three thumbs up and a must see.
